We are currently looking for three types of interns to join our team for the Spring 2019 Semester! These interns will contribute to the success of Alternative Breaks through assisting our Core team members with their duties, and learn hands-on some invaluable skills needed to run one of the largest student-run, service learning organizations on campus!

PR Intern

General Duties:

  • Serve as an assistant to the PR coordinator, assist them with their everyday tasks relative to the organization (approx 5-10 hours/week)
  • Serve ~2 hours/week in office hours (with the PR Coordinator)
  • Create and facilitate promotional efforts and events
  • Assist with tabling, class and student organization visits, and faculty recommendation process
  • Post regular social media posts promoting Alternative Breaks and service opportunities
  • Assist with recruiting new members

Required Qualifications:

  • Must be a current KU Student enrolled in at least 6 credit hours
  • Must be organized and flexible
  • Experience with social media platforms (facebook, twitter, instagram)
  • Believe in the Mission of Alternative Breaks

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Planning to stay at KU and stay involved with AB leadership for the 2019-2020 school year



Weekend Intern

  • Serve as an assistant to the current weekend coordinator in planning and organization of breaks (~5-10 hours/week)
  • Must be organized and flexible
  • Must have good communication skills
  • Be able to serve ~2 hours of office hours a week alongside the Weekend Coordinator
  • Must be a current KU Student enrolled in at least 6 credit hours
  • Preferably be planning to remain at KU and stay involved in AB Leadership for the 2019-2020 school year




General Intern

  • Assist members of AB Core with various tasks (~5-8 hours/week), including but not limited to:
    1. Assist weeklong coordinators with finding sites/housing
    2. Assist in planning and implementation of any special events or projects
    3. Assist weekend coordinator with weekly packets and site planning
    4. Maintain and update Alternative Breaks procedures and documents
  • Be flexible and open to different areas of work
  • Believe in the Mission of Alternative Breaks
  • Be able to serve ~2 hours of office hours per week
  • Preferably be planning to remain at KU and stay involved in AB Leadership for the 2019-2020 school year
