Meet Morgan Linder!

Year: Junior

Major: Biology-MCDB

We asked Morgan to answer some questions for us about why she decided to participate in Alternative Breaks and what she loves most about it. So here are her answers.

Which Alternative Break(s) have you previously participated in?

Winter 2015: Playworks in Denver, Colorado

What is your favorite thing about Alternative Breaks?

The best thing about Alternative Breaks is getting to spend time with amazing like-minded individuals who have come together with the common goal of making the world a better place. It's such an awesome feeling to come back to Lawrence knowing that a few days in a different state with six other people can change you for the better.

What was your favorite thing you learned from Alternative Breaks?

When I bent down to talk to one of the kids on eye level, he told me I was twerking. So, I guess a third grader taught me how to twerk. I also learned how to fall slip on ice multiple times without getting seriously injured. I'm basically a champ.

What is your favorite memory from Alternative Breaks?

Our half free day happened to be my birthday. The kids at the school we visited gave me a special birthday cheer in the morning and in the afternoon my group members and I explored Red Rocks Amphitheatre (where there was an unfortunate incident with the car keys) and Estes Park. At the end of the day my group gave me cupcakes. Their effort to make my birthday special really meant the world to me.

What is a random fact about yourself?

I'm a dog person but I collect cat-themed clothing.
