Freedom House (We spend the week working at a home for asylum seeking refugees)

What is your favorite thing about Alternative Breaks?

My favorite thing about alternative breaks is that it gives student an opportunity to learn more about social justice issues, and give back to communities across the country. It is also affordable for students.

What was your favorite thing you learned from Alternative Breaks?

My favorite thing that I learned from Alternative Breaks was how welcoming and friendly the African and Middle Eastern cultures can be. I was blown away by the kindness and hospitality shown to me and my fellow Alt. Breakers.

What is your favorite memory from Alternative Breaks?

My favorite memory from my alternative break, was the dance party the residents threw for us on the last night. They incorporated music and dance from their culture, but also included American music.

What is a random fact about yourself?

A random fact about myself is that I used to barrel race in junior high.
